Now disabled students will be given free education in all the six government medical colleges of Himachal Pradesh.
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, May 16Now disabled students will be given free education in all the six government medical colleges of Himachal Pradesh.Due to which, the financial condition of thousands of disabled students studying MBBS, MD, Nursing and other degrees in all the six government medical colleges of the state will improve and a big burden is going to be removed from them.Atal Medical and Research University has issued a complete notification regarding free education to disabled students on Wednesday, 15th May.

Umang Foundation President Ajay Srivastava said that by filing a PIL in the Himachal Pradesh High Court, the demand of free education to all the disabled students of Himachal Pradesh from government institutions to universities was fulfilled on June 4, 2015, But the rule was not being implemented by the Himachal Pradesh Medical Education Department.Then in the year 2023, Nikita Choudhary, a wheelchair user from Himachal Pradesh and MBBS student of Tanda Medical College, also filed a petition in Himachal Pradesh High Court regarding non-implementation of the rule of providing free education to disabled students.Nikita Chaudhary is also a member of Umang Foundation. And Nikita was given MBBS admission in Tanda Medical College after the orders of Himachal Pradesh High Court, she was upset because the full fees were charged. Now Nikita is going to become the first wheelchair user doctor of Himachal Pradesh.
