Himachal Politics: Congress demands investigation on resignations, Assembly Speaker’s notice to independent MLAs
On taking cognizance from Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, the Assembly Secretariat has issued notices to the three independent MLAs KL Thakur, Hoshyar Singh and Ashish Sharma and sought their reply by April 10.
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 28: Ministers and Congress MLAs have complained about the three independent MLAs and demanded the Assembly Speaker to investigate the reasons for their resignations. On taking cognizance of this on behalf of Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, the Assembly Secretariat has issued notices to the three independent MLAs KL Thakur, Hoshyar Singh and Ashish Sharma and has sought their reply by April 10. In the complaint, there are allegations against him that he was brought in a helicopter to tender his resignation and senior BJP leaders were present with him.

He alleged that the public has elected him for five years. He resigned under pressure from BJP. Three independent MLAs, Ashish Sharma from Hamirpur, Hoshyar Singh from Dehra and KL Thakur from Nalagarh, who voted in favor of BJP in the Rajya Sabha elections, had submitted their resignations from the post of MLA on Friday. Ministers and Congress MLAs allege that after reaching Shimla in a helicopter from New Delhi on Friday, all three submitted their resignations to the Assembly Secretary.
After that these independent MLAs met the Governor and also submitted their resignations to the Assembly Speaker. During that time, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur and other BJP leaders also remained with him. The three independent MLAs also went back to Delhi along with Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur. This complaint has been lodged with the Assembly Speaker by Ministers Jagat Singh Negi, Rohit Thakur, Anirudh Singh, Vikramaditya Singh, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthi, MLA Sanjay Rattan and other MLAs.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthi said that the independents being brought to Shimla in a helicopter before resigning and being with senior BJP leaders confirms that they resigned under political pressure. In view of the seriousness of the matter, a demand for investigation has been made in the complaint. At the same time, Assembly Secretary Yashpal Sharma has asked to lodge a complaint and clarify the situation by April 10.
