In Lahaul-Spiti district too, former Congress MLA Raghbir Singh Thakur is desperate to contest the by-election. Former MLA Raghbir Singh Thakur has announced to contest the by-election from Lahaul-Spiti assembly constituency. In a press conference in Manali, former Congress MLA Raghbir Singh Thakur has staked claim for Congress ticket from Lahaul-Spiti assembly constituency. Former Congress MLA Raghbir Singh Thakur said that he has been claiming the ticket on public demand. Raghbir Singh Thakur said that former Congress MLA Ravi Thakur has tried to create obstacles in the development works by showing loyalty to the BJP.

Former MLA Raghbir Singh Thakur said that it is necessary for Congress to win every seat to save the government. Therefore, the Congress Party high command should allot tickets thoughtfully.
Raghbir Singh Thakur said that along with six rebel Congress MLAs who supported BJP during the Rajya Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh, two BJP MLAs are also present with him. Earlier, Raghbir Singh Thakur had won the elections from Lahaul-Spiti assembly constituency in 2003. During press conference in Manali, nominated councilors Dharampal Rudingpa, Ramesh Bhat, Virendra Thakur, Tanu Thakur were present.
