AIIMS Bilaspur: Preparation To Start Kidney Transplant In AIIMS Bilaspur Within Six Months

Recently, BJP National President JP Nadda and Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya have also inaugurated the Radiotherapy Block in AIIMS Bilaspur. With the launch of Radiotherapy Block, high level radiotherapy facilities are now being provided to cancer patients of Himachal Pradesh.

Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Bilaspur, March 09: Kidney transplant facility can be started at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bilaspur any time after the month of June. AIIMS Bilaspur management has started the process of getting legal approval to start kidney transplant facility under the Human Organ Transplant Act. To start kidney transplant services in the Nephrology Department of AIIMS Bilaspur, 70 to 80 percent of the equipment including operation theater has been installed by the AIIMS Bilaspur management. The posts of senior and junior residents have also been filled in the Nephrology department of AIIMS Bilaspur. According to AIIMS Bilaspur management, kidney transplant facility will be started in the next three to six months. All kidney related diseases are being treated by the Nephrology Department of AIIMS Bilaspur.

At present, five dialysis machines are working in the Nephrology Department of AIIMS Bilaspur. Nephrology services also provide the facility of kidney biopsy, tunneled hemodialysis catheter. In the last two years, many big services have been started in AIIMS Bilaspur for the people of Himachal Pradesh. Among these services, facilities like IPD, Cardiology of many departments of AIIMS Bilaspur are prominent. Kidney dialysis and ICU dialysis are also being done in AIIMS Bilaspur.

In the Radiotherapy Block, treatment is being provided with advanced technology like High Energy Linear Accelerator, Brachy Therapy, Four-D City Simulator.

Kidney transplant in IGMC Shimla is closed since Corona –

IGMC Shimla was the only health institution in Himachal Pradesh which provided kidney transplant facilities. But that too is closed since the Corona epidemic. The cost of kidney transplant in private hospitals of the country ranges between Rs 8 to 12 lakh. But in institutions like AIIMS its expenditure is up to two times less.

AIIMS Bilaspur will start donor program –

AIIMS Bilaspur will also start a donor program for kidney transplant. Under the donor programme, patients will be identified in special OPDs to undertake kidney transplant. Both the patient and the kidney donor will be tested in the special OPD itself. After this all the testings will be conducted. Kidney transplant will be possible only if everything is correct.

AIIMS Bilaspur is preparing to start kidney transplant. The process of obtaining legal approval under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act (THOA) has been started by AIIMS Bilaspur management. It is expected that kidney transplant services will start at AIIMS Bilaspur in the next three to six months.
