IMD Shimla: Western Disturbance Active, Heavy Rain-Snowfall Alert From March 1 to 6, Know Weekly Weather

IMD Shimla has predicted heavy rain, snowfall, thunderstorm and lightning from March 1 to March 6 for various areas of Shimla, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh. Due to western disturbance once again becoming active in the state, there will be changes in the weather throughout the week.

In a phone conversation with Diary Times Editor-in-Chief Kumud Sharma, Director of Meteorological Center, Shimla, Dr. Surendra Paul said that the activity of another western disturbance in the state will cause heavy rain and snowfall in various areas from March 1 to March 3. He said that western disturbance is going to remain active between March 4 and March 6.

Dr. Surendra Pal said, “Due to the intensity of western disturbance in the state, heavy rains and snowfall along with thunderstorms and lightning are expected in Shimla, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts from March 1 to March 6.” There is also a possibility of landslides in central and high mountain areas.”

11 lines restored from Udaipur to Myar Valley –

Amidst heavy rain and snowfall, State Electricity Board employees and Public Works Department personnel are working day and night to restore transformers and roads. Amid heavy rains and snowfall in Lahaul-Spiti district, electricity up to Khanjar, the last village in the remote area, has been restored by Electricity Board employees by pulling the line. Also today, the 11 KV line from Udaipur to Myar Valley has been restored amid heavy snowfall and difficult conditions.

Necessary guidelines issued to tourists and people due to heavy rain and snowfall –

Dr. Surendra Paul, Director, Meteorological Center, Shimla, advised outside tourists and people to know the weather conditions before going to tourist places and destinations in Shimla, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti districts & high mountain places. People have been Advided to drive slowly and travel while staying updated with the official or state meteorological centre.

Dr. Surendra Pal has asked drivers to be alert on the highways and drive slowly due to heavy landslides in some parts of Kinnaur district due to bad weather from March 1 to March 6.

Dr. Pal has advised the tourists going to Atal Tunnel Rohtang in Lahaul-Spiti district to follow the advice of the local police, not to go ahead and in case of emergency, keep in mind the weather report of Manali Police and South and North Portal.
