Himachal Breaking: Sword Hangs On the Membership of Six Rebel MLAs, Speaker Starts Hearing
If the membership of the rebel MLAs is canceled on the orders of the Speaker of the Assembly, then they can explore legal options, but the possibility of by-elections to the Assembly along with the Lok Sabha cannot be ruled out.
Shimla, February 28: Membership of six rebel Congress MLAs has been put on hold in Himachal Pradesh. A petition has been filed before the Assembly Speaker under the anti-defection law. In this the membership of the MLAs has been challenged. The big thing is that the Speaker of the Assembly has immediately issued a notice to the MLAs and started the hearing.
However, the rebel MLAs, through their advocate, have raised the demand that at least 7 days should have been given for the reply, but Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, while talking to journalists, has made it clear that the order should be issued immediately.
Actually, the ruling party had issued a whip. The rebel MLAs reached the House at around 12 o’clock, but left before the Speaker of the Assembly arrived. Therefore, it has been considered a violation of the whip. Now the question arises that if these MLAs are disqualified then what is going to happen in that case.
Political analysts say that by-elections will be held in 6 assembly constituencies in this manner.
