“Shaand Yagya” has been organized after 45 years in the ancient temple of Thoond, the 22nd teeka place of Dev Junga Manuni in Himachal Pradesh. Thousands of devotees have received the blessings of Gods and Goddesses in Shand Yagya.
General Secretary of Dev Junga Ancient Temple Committee, Ram Gopal Thakur told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that in the Shand Yagya, contemporaneous king of Keonthal state and the fourth favored king Khush Vikram Sen and Queen Mother Vijay Jyoti Sen along with the trident of Mata Tara Devi, Hanuman Khushhal has joined Chowki along with four deities Kanetidhar, deity Ghanena, deity Junga Bhanog, deity Dhanchand and the Kardars of 24 Goddesses.
General Secretary of Dev Junga Ancient Temple Committee, Ram Gopal Thakur said that after renovating the ancient temple, Shand Yagya has been organized. In Shand Yagya, the tradition of installing Kurud on the top of the ancient temple has been followed by the traditional method of worship of God.
In the Keonthal state, the king’s place is considered above the gods, that is why the Keonthal king is worshiped as the fourth Ishta. On this occasion, King Khush Vikram Sen has also announced to bring reforms in the old traditions related to gods in the Keonthal state.
The period of menstruation of women at home was reduced from nine days to five days, that is, earlier there was abstinence for going to the temple for nine days, which has been reduced to five days.
Apart from this, since time immemorial neither milk was used in the Bhandara of Dev Karya nor could one sit on a chair during this period. The king has also given permission to use milk in the storehouse of worship and to sit on a chair.
On the occasion of Shanda Yagya, Rajmata Vijay Jyoti Sen advised the priests of Dev Junga’s 22 Tika deities and the gurus of the deity that the ancient tradition of deity should be maintained.
Rajmata Vijay Jyoti Sen said that in the entire Keonthal region, people consider Dev Junga as their family deity, but with the changing times, ancient traditions have come to the verge of extinction.
Rajmata Vijay Jyoti Sen also said that the people of Keonthal region have started believing in the gods of other regions instead of their own gods, due to which it seems that our god traditions are beginning to disappear.
Rajmata Vijay Jyoti Sen also said that separate committees of 22 Tika temples of Dev Junga in Kyothal area have been formed at their own levels.
Rajmata Vijay Jyoti Sen said that consideration is being given to forming a committee for 22 Tika temples.
