The hope of regularization of about 4,000 SMC and computer teachers working in government schools of Himachal Pradesh as a policy has once again been raised. An important meeting of the Cabinet Sub Committee constituted by Himachal Pradesh Government under the chairmanship of Education Minister Rohit Thakur has been called on 7th February. Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh have been made important members of the Cabinet Sub Committee. There is every possibility of some important decision being taken in the cabinet sub-committee meeting regarding the future of SMC teachers.

There is every possibility of a new policy being announced for 2555 SMC teachers and 1350 computer teachers in the budget for the financial year 2024-25.

SMC teachers have given an ultimatum to Himachal Pradesh government to boycott classes from 8th February.

For the past several days, SMC teachers have been sitting on a hunger strike at CTO Chowk in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh.

SMC Teachers Association has been demanding the Himachal Pradesh Government for many days to make a regular policy.

SMC teachers say that for the last many years, SMC teachers have been providing their services in such schools located in inaccessible and remote areas of Himachal Pradesh, where regular teachers were not ready to go.

During this period, governments of many parties have come and gone in Himachal Pradesh, but no regular policy has been made for SMC teachers.

On the other hand, computer teachers have also been providing their services in the government schools of Himachal Pradesh for many years on outsourced basis.

Computer teachers have also been demanding a regular policy from the Himachal Pradesh government for a long time.

Last year, a cabinet sub-committee was also constituted by the Himachal Pradesh government to consider the demands and all the problems of computer teachers. The Himachal Pradesh Government had sought a complete report from the Cabinet Sub Committee by December 31, 2023, but the Cabinet Sub Committee has not yet given its important report to the Himachal Pradesh Government by the stipulated time. Now the important meeting of the Cabinet Sub Committee is going to be held again on 7th February.
