IMD Shimla has predicted heavy rain and snowfall in the higher reaches of many districts of Himachal Pradesh.

According to Meteorological Center Shimla, due to the activity of two consecutive western disturbances, there is a possibility of increase in the intensity of heavy rain and snowfall in the entire Himachal Pradesh for the next 2 to 3 days from January 30 and January 31.

During the change in weather in Himachal Pradesh, heavy rain and snowfall in higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Sirmour, Shimla (including Shimla city and all adjoining areas) has been forecast by IMD Shimla. Yellow alert of heavy rain and snowfall in Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur districts of Himachal Pradesh on January 31 has been issued by IMD Shimla. There are full chances of heavy rains and snowfall continuing in Himachal Pradesh till February 3.

There are full chances of the minimum temperature being below normal in many areas of Himachal Pradesh –

According to IMD Shimla, due to heavy rains and snowfall in the entire Himachal Pradesh on February 3, there is a possibility of thunderstorm, lightning in the lower hills and plains, as well as strong winds in isolated areas in the middle and higher hilly areas.

IMD Shimla is predicting that the average maximum temperature in Himachal Pradesh will be below normal during the period of 3rd February. Whereas the minimum temperature for all the plain areas of Himachal Pradesh will be normal and the temperature for the central and high hill areas is likely to be below normal, IMD Shimla has predicted.

IMD Shimla has also advised all the tourists and local people coming to Himachal Pradesh from India and abroad not to travel to sensitive areas with heavy snowfall.

  • Follow any traffic advisory issued regarding heavy rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh till February 3.
  • Also follow the advisories and guidelines issued by all concerned departments of Himachal Pradesh.
  • All tourists coming to Himachal Pradesh from India and abroad should check the traffic congestion on their route before leaving for their destination.
