Himachal News: High Court Ban On Proposed R&R Plan For Gaggal Airport Expansion
The Social Impact Assessment Report, Special Group Report and Techno-Economic Feasibility Report submitted for the expansion of Gaggal Airport were challenged in the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
The proposed Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) scheme for expansion of Gaggal Airport in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh has been stayed by the Himachal Pradesh High Court during the hearing on Tuesday. Himachal Pradesh High Court has issued orders to maintain status quo in the case till the next hearing. The next hearing on the proposed Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) plan for the expansion of Gaggal Airport is scheduled to be held on February 29 in the Himachal Pradesh High Court. The Social Impact Assessment Report, Expert Group Report and Techno Economic Feasibility Report submitted for the expansion of Gaggal Airport were challenged in the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

Apart from this, due to Gaggal Airport being in the seismic zone, all the guidelines for consultation with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee regarding the Techno-Economic Feasibility Report (TEF) prepared for Gaggal Airport expansion have also not been completed yet. Himachal Pradesh Government’s Advocate General Anup Kumar Ratan told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) plan being prepared in the entire case of Gaggal Airport expansion in Kangra district has been put on hold with immediate effect till the next hearing by the Himachal Pradesh High Court. The important stand of the Himachal Pradesh government is going to be presented In Front of the Himachal Pradesh High Court in the upcoming hearing on February 29.
