RBI has said that now Rs 2,000 bank notes (2,000 Rupee Note) have been closed. But if you have, then you have to go to the bank and get it changed. You can get these notes exchanged by going to the bank. The RBI said in a release on Friday that the Rs 2,000 note has been withdrawn from circulation. But it will continue to be legal tender. This note of Rs 2,000 was introduced in November 2016. You can get these notes exchanged by going to banks from May 23. Only Rs 20,000 can be exchanged at a time. You will be able to exchange these notes till September 30. Till then you can buy and sell in the market with these notes.

2018-19 Printing Stopped

The note of two thousand rupees was brought under section 24 (1) of the RBI Act 1934. These notes were introduced due to the currency requirement after the old 500 and 1000 rupee notes were discontinued. The purpose of introducing Rs 2,000 was defeated after the second note came in sufficient quantity in the market. Hence the printing of Rs 2,000 banknotes was stopped in 2018-19.

Can be changed by going to banks

RBI has said that people can deposit Rs 2,000 notes in their bank accounts. Or they can also go to the bank to exchange these notes. These can be deposited in banks in the normal way without any restrictions.

Notes can be exchanged from May 23

From May 23, 2023, you can exchange Rs 2,000 notes by visiting banks. However, to ensure operational convenience, RBI has said that only Rs 20,000 can be deposited at a time.

Time till 30 September

You can get these 2 thousand rupee notes changed only for a certain period. According to RBI, all banks will exchange Rs 2,000 notes by September 30, 2023. That is, you can deposit or exchange these notes in the bank till September 30, 2023.
