G20 Summit Jammu and Kashmir: Tight security arrangements have been made for smooth traffic and security arrangements in the G20 meeting. A large force of police officers has been deployed for the security of the participants in the meeting.
The security of the proposed G20 meeting from May 22 to 24 was reviewed by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla in a high-level meeting on Tuesday. Along with IB Director Tapan Deka, he held a meeting with senior officers of Jammu and Kashmir administration and security agencies to ensure that there is no lapse in security as well as arrangements. Meanwhile, the police administration has deployed 109 police officers specialized in anti-terrorist operations. Of these, 26 are SP and 86 deputy SP rank officers.
Tight security arrangements have been made for smooth traffic and security arrangements in the G20 meeting. A large force of police officers has been deployed for the security of the participants in the meeting. One SSP, 25 SP and 83 DSP rank officers have been deployed from across the state. These officers are posted with ADGP Kashmir Zone, ADGP Security and ADGP Traffic Police.
Most of these officers are those who have worked in terrorism affected areas and have been involved in anti-terrorist operations. SP Naresh Singh, who is in command of the anti-terrorist team in Jammu division, and Ramnish Kumar, SP of Jammu Police Headquarters, are also involved in this.
Both Bhalla and Deka officials reached Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon for the security review. He spoke with officials of the Jammu and Kashmir administration on the security aspect as well as preparations for the international-level meeting to be held here. The security of the G20 meeting is the topmost priority of the government, for which all possible steps are being taken. During this, Bhalla and Deka took information about security arrangements from top officials of Jammu and Kashmir administration, police, army and other security agencies.
As part of the meeting, the G20 delegates are expected to visit Gulmarg and Srinagar besides some other tourist places. Because of this, the security of Dal as well as other tourist places of Kashmir will be kept tight. Sources say that in view of the recent two major terrorist attacks in Rajori and Poonch, emphasis has been laid on strengthening the security system. Under this, NSG commandos can be stationed at places where international delegates will go. Besides, MARCOS commandos of the Navy are expected to be deployed in Dal Lake and other water bodies in the valley.

An order regarding this has been issued by the police headquarters on Tuesday. Under the issued order, SSP Munir Ahmed, SP Masroor Ahmed Mir, Farooq Ahmed, Masood Ahmed, Chandrajit Singh, Heera Lal, Sanjay Sharma, Vikram Singh, Rajesh Sandal and 30 DSPs have been deployed along with ADGP Security. While ADGP Kashmir Zone with SP Shabbir Ahmed, Sajjad Ahmed, Jasveer Singh, Ramnish Kumar, Ejaz Ahmed, Safdar Hameed, Ifroz Ahmed, Fayaz Ahmed, Riyaz Ahmed, Farooq Ahmed, Altaf Hussain, Naresh Singh, Madan Mohan, Ejaz Malik, Mushtaq Ahmed, Naeem Ahmed and 50 DSPs have been deployed. While DSP Pradeep Kumar, Anoop Kumar and Kapil Tikkri will remain with the traffic police.
