SP leader Azam Khan admitted to hospital in Delhi after "sudden health deterioration"
Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan was admitted to Delhi’s Sir Gangaram Hospital on Monday after his health suddenly deteriorated.
The condition of the SP leader is said to be stable and he has been kept under observation.
“Due to sudden deterioration in health of SP leader Muhammad Azam Khan, he has been admitted to Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital at around 3 am on Monday,” hospital officials said.
More details are awaited.
He was elected MLA from Rampur Sadar constituency.
The state assembly secretariat earlier in October announced Khan’s disqualification from the House after a court sentenced him to three years in jail in a hate speech case.
A case was registered against Khan for making serious allegations against the administrative officials posted in Rampur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during an election meeting in April 2019.
During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Khan was booked for making an inflammatory speech while addressing a public meeting in Khatanagaria village of Milak Kotwali area.
Earlier in May 2022, the Allahabad High Court had granted interim bail to Azam Khan in a case related to wrongful possession of Waqf Board property land.
