Atiq Ahmed and brother Ashraf Ahad were killed by firing 9 rounds. This massacre took place when the police was taking him for medical examination under heavy security. Atiq and Ashraf had stopped in between to talk to the media when they were shot in the head. The video of this dreadful murder has come to the fore. see-
Sealed borders of Prayagraj
Section 144 has been implemented in Prayagraj after the murder of Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf. Along with this, PAC and RAF forces have also been deployed. Along with this, all the boundaries of Prayagraj have been sealed. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of this incident. Immediately a high level meeting was called and instructions were given for a high level inquiry into the matter. The Chief Minister also gave instructions for the formation of a three-member Judicial Commission. All the three attackers have been caught on the spot. The police is investigating the matter.
Before the murder, Atiq Ahmed was afraid – ‘want to kill me’
After coming out of Sabarmati Jail, Atiq Ahmed had expressed apprehension that he might be murdered. He was being brought out of jail in a police van. During that time he told the media, ‘Murder, murder.’ When he was asked that there is safety in the police van, why are you feeling scared? So he said, ‘I know his program (plan). Want to kill.

Former SP MP Atiq Ahmed was lodged in Sabarmati Jail since June 2019. As per the order of Supreme Court, Atiq Ahmed was shifted from his home state (Uttar Pradesh) to Sabarmati Jail.
