Army Jawan dies of gunshot wound in Punjab’s Bhatinda, no link to military station firing
Meanwhile, another soldier died of bullet injuries inside the military station on Thursday morning. The incident took place on Wednesday night near the unit’s office. On investigation, it was found that Gur Tejas Lahuraj, posted on sentry duty, had a bullet injury in his head. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but he died. Military police are probing whether the soldier committed suicide, was shot by someone or was an accident. According to sources, it has no relation with the firing.
The bodies of all four will be sent to their homes today.
The post-mortem of the four jawans was done at the Civil Hospital late in the night. His chest was riddled with bullets. Today the dead bodies of the jawans will be sent to their villages. Meanwhile, the meeting of high officials of military and police also continued till late night.
According to officials, the gunmen were not in military uniform. He was wearing plain clothes. These soldiers of 80 Medium Regiment were posted on guard duty in the officers’ mess. The army said that the firing took place at 4:35 am. Apart from 4 deaths, there has been no loss of life or property. Police and army teams are investigating it together. The military station was sealed after the firing. The movement of people was also banned. A search operation was conducted in the army area. During this time the families of the soldiers living inside were asked to stay in the house. Schools inside the cantonment were also closed. Police have registered a case of murder and Arms Act against unknown accused in this case.
