Pappalpreet Singh, a close aide of fugitive Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh, was brought to Amritsar Airport in the early hours of Tuesday (April 11). Pappalpreet was arrested on Monday (April 10) from Kathunangal area of Amritsar. Earlier on Monday, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP), Headquarters Sukhchain Singh Gill said that Pappalpreet Singh has been arrested under the National Security Act (NSA).
Stayed with Amritpal till 28 March
During interrogation, Pappalpreet has told that he had separated from Amritpal on March 28 in Hoshiarpur. From March 18 to March 28, he stayed with Amritpal. On March 28, both of them escaped from the hands of the police in Hoshiarpur. Information has also been given about how the police operation was not successful and how both of them along with the driver Joga Singh had betrayed the police that day. Pappalpreet was brought to Amritsar airport in the morning with a heavy police force.
Arrested in Kathunangal
Pappalpreet’s statement has also come to the fore. He says that he is absolutely safe. He was arrested in Kathunangal on Monday (April 11). Police say that since Amritpal’s escape on March 18, the two were seen together in CCTV footage on several occasions. It was also reported that Pappalpreet and Amritpal fled to Haryana and later to Pilibhit, fearing the police, where they hid in a gurudwara. Later both returned to Punjab and hid in Hoshiarpur.
Suspicion of Amritpal being in Delhi
Earlier, the Punjab Police had raised doubts about Amritpal entering the Delhi border. After getting the input, Delhi Police has come on alert mode and is trying to keep an eye on Amritpal’s activities. Amritpal has been absconding since March 18, the day the Punjab Police started looking for him. The action comes nearly three weeks after Amritpal’s supporters stormed the Ajnala police station in Amritsar on 23 February, demanding the release of one of his close aides, Lovepreet Toofan.
