Assam: Fire breaks out in Rampur market area of Nalbari district

A massive fire broke out in a market area at Rampur in Assam’s Nalbari district. According to the police, about seven to eight shops were gutted in the fire that broke out on Monday night. According to the latest information, the fire department and the police have brought the fire under control.

Police officials said that fire brigade personnel with the help of police and local people brought the situation under control. As of now, there is no news of any casualty in the fire. Also, no clear information has been received about the cause of the fire.
Jorhat market caught fire in February
In February this year, over 300 shops were gutted in a massive fire in Chowk Bazaar area of Jorhat, Assam. According to fire department officials, the fire broke out in a cloth shop near the main gate of the market. At that time, a short circuit was suspected to have caused the fire.

About 20 fire engines were pressed into service to douse the fire. Earlier in November last year, a massive fire broke out in Lahorijan area near Bokajan in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district along the Assam-Nagaland border, gutting a large number of houses and shops.
In December last year, a fire broke out in Vashishtha Amrit Nagar area of Guwahati. A fire broke out in the densely populated Nepali Basti area of Guwahati’s Vashishtha Amrit Nagar. Many houses were damaged in the fire.
