Explosion near Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry in Kabul kills 2, injures 12

At least two people were killed and 12 others wounded in an explosion near Afghanistan’s foreign ministry, reports on Monday afternoon quoted an NGO in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul as saying. Even before this, in a similar incident last January, a suicide bomb blast took place in the capital, in which heavy casualties were reported. According to the NGO’s social media post, a child was also injured in the blast incident. Souza said the incident took place near the Ministry of External Affairs.

Reports said the blast occurred near a checkpoint on the road leading to the ministry. Several ambulances reached the spot after the incident. The injured are being taken to Wazir Akbar Khan Hospital. In recent days Taliban security forces have cracked down on IS-K militants, a group that has reportedly carried out such attacks in the past.
