AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s Controversial Remark
- During his campaign, Asaduddin Owaisididn’t hold back from criticizing the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP. In one of his scathing remarks, he referred to them as “Chotta Recharge,” suggesting that they were a small-scale operation compared to other political parties. Owaisi also accused the Delhi Chief Minister of defaming the Muslim community, comparing him unfavourably to the Prime Minister and alleging that Kejriwal was responsible for the Tablighi Jamaat congregation during the early days of the Coronavirus outbreak. These allegations were particularly noteworthy given the sensitivity of the issue and the ongoing efforts to contain the spread of the virus.
- As part of his campaign, Mr Owaisi also claimed that Delhi Chief Minister Mr Kejriwal had considered removing the Anti-CAA protesters from Shaheen Bagh in just half an hour. This statement suggests that Mr Kejriwal may have been willing to resort to extreme measures to clear the protest site, despite the concerns of the protesters and other activists who supported their cause.
