A convincing win for India in Nagpur as they registered innings and 132 runs with 1-0 up in the series.

Wickets fell like mine pins for Australia with the opener Usman Khawaja biting the dust. Rohit Sharma handed the new ball to Mohammad Sami, who bowled three overs. First, Ashwin dismissed Khawaja in his style and after that Jadeja followed it up by trapping Labuschagne plumb in front to put a pressure on them. Ashwin removed the pack of left-handers better on this day and it was just Smith who was holding one side. From David Warner to Matt Tens haw, and Peter Handscomb to Alex Carey, everyone bowled down before the witness of  Ashwin. Ashwin bagged a fifer after almost a gap of two years and 21 innings.

Earlier, Australia had chosen to bat first and could only score 177 runs on the board. In this test match, Jadeja finished off with a fifer, from second he was supported by Ashwin, who bagged three wickets. From the Australian side, Marnus Labuschagne was the only notable contributor for the visiting team. In reply, India had scored 400 runs in the first innings. Whichn captain Rohit Sharma scored a beautiful century and gave a good start to his team. Jadeja scored 70 runs whereas Axar Patel scored 84 runs and notched up half-centuries and boosting the total to the 400 runs mark. Whereas Shami played a very superb cameo for his team. For the Australian team, an amazing off-spinner Todd Murphy was the pick of the bowlers who took 7 seven wickets for his team.

Here’s the match report

A recurring image today was the Australians being trapped in their crease. The one bright spot in this match was the debut of Todd Murphy. He was a revelation in the Australian team.

Ravindra Jadeja has been fined 25% of his match payments for applying the soothing cream. That’s a costly soothe. The ICC match officials were satisfied that I didn’t artificially alter the ball.

India wins by innings and 132 runs. The Australian team lost ten wickets in a single session. It was a master class from India but that was a desperately disappointing performance from the visitors.

It was Australia’s second-lowest-ever total against India. Ashwin’s five wickets were sublime and he had terrific support from Shami and Jadeja. Ashwin and his captain should fight out a man of the match honours.

Now, India is in the lead. Captain Rohit Sharma is in good form. Indian bowlers are doing well with their bowls. Now their focus will be the next match. Where they have to continue their form and win the match. This is the first test century for Captain Rohit Sharma.
