The upper areas of Himachal Pradesh are completely covered with snow. Heavy snowfall has started in Charabra near Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Heavy snowfall continues in Narkanda of Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla and Keylong of Lahaul Spiti district.

After the first snowfall of the new year 2024, the Shimla-Rampur highway of Himachal Pradesh has been completely closed for traffic. Also, there has been three inches of snowfall in Khada Patthar. Nearly twelve HRTC and private buses are completely stuck near Fagu in Himachal Pradesh.

Even in Pangi tribal area of Himachal Pradesh, people are stuck in their homes after heavy snowfall. Also, heavy snowfall and rain have provided lifeline to the farmers and gardeners of Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, amid Orange Alert by IMD Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, heavy snowfall has been recorded in Rohtang Pass, around Atal Tunnel, Manali, Keylong, Dalhousie and Pangi-Bharmaur on Tuesday afternoon. Snow is falling on the hills of Dhauladhar in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. The first snowfall of the season of 2024 in the tourist cities Manali and Dalhousie has been recorded by IMD Shimla.

Both ends of the Atal Tunnel are also laden with heavy snow.

Light rain has also started in Kangra district and tourist city Manali of Himachal Pradesh.

IMD Shimla has predicted a change in the weather of entire Himachal Pradesh due to the western disturbance which became active in Himachal Pradesh since Tuesday night.

According to Meteorological Center Shimla, IMD Shimla has expressed the possibility of heavy snowfall in the high mountain areas of Himachal Pradesh like Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti as well as in the high altitude areas of Shimla, Mandi, Kullu and Chamba on Wednesday and Thursday. Heavy rain has also been forecast in all other areas of Himachal Pradesh by IMD Shimla.

Director of Meteorological Center, Shimla, Surendra Paul told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that due to the active western disturbance in the entire Himachal Pradesh, the weather is going to be completely bad in all the areas of the entire Himachal Pradesh for the next one week. IMD Shimla has predicted a decrease in the minimum temperature in the entire Himachal during the next one week.

In Himachal Pradesh, till January 30, 2024, 99 percent less rainfall than the normal has been recorded by IMD Shimla.

Director of Meteorological Center, Shimla, Surendra Pal has appealed to the Himachal Pradesh government to remain alert in view of the upcoming changes in the weather of Himachal Pradesh.

On the other hand, in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, heavy snowfall has been recorded by IMD Shimla in all the high peaks of Rohtang Pass as well as North Portal of Atal Tunnel as well as Kunjam Pass, Baralacha and Shinkula Pass.

Light rain in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh late in the evening has been recorded by IMD Shimla. Due to the onset of rain in Kangra district, there has been a huge drop in the minimum temperature in Kangra district and the cold has increased in the entire Kangra district.

Heavy snowfall is also falling on the Dhauladhar hills of Kangra district.

On the other hand, after almost two months, heavy rain and snowfall in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh has been recorded by IMD Shimla.

In Himachal Pradesh, heavy snowfall has started in the higher areas after noon, and heavy rain has also started in the lower areas of Himachal Pradesh.

After noon in Himachal Pradesh, heavy snowfall has started once again in Bharmour, Dalhousie, Dainkund, Pohlani, Jot and Kilar as well as Sach Pass.

In Himachal Pradesh, after 3:45 pm, snow started falling in Rohtang Pass and North Portal of Atal Tunnel.
