The first cultural evening of the festival was graced by the artists of police band Harmony of the Pines. The police band team performed on patriotic songs including Hawa as well as Sandesh Aate Hain. Local people and tourists danced to these songs on the packed ridge ground. Folk singers Lokendra Chauhan and Hanni Negi also gave more than one performance. Apart from this, Gopal Sharma entertained the audience a lot with his songs.
The Governor inaugurated the cultural evening
Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla was present as the chief guest in this programme. Earlier, a presentation was also given by the North Zone Cultural Center Patiala, including school students, in which artists from the states of Jammu-Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab forced the tourists to dance. During this the pandal was completely full. Many tourists kept dancing in groups. Kuldeep Sharma will add color to the second cultural evening of the festival on Friday.
These programs will be held on Ridge Maidan and Mall Road
Dog Show, Mahanati and Tug of War Competition, Band Exhibition, Mushaira, Fashion Show, Quiz Competition, Cuisine Festival, Traditional Folk Instrument Competition, Kachhi Ghodi, Polymorphic Dance, Ghoomar and Phag at Shimla’s Ridge Maidan and Mall Road during International Summer Festival. Dance, Bhangra and Jindua dance, Chhapeli dance, Rauf dance and flower exhibition have been organized. Programs will continue here from morning till evening.
Press block missing in summer festival
For the first time the International Summer Festival was seen at the Ridge Ground that the Press Block has not been built, only the VIP Block has been built. This time there is no pass facility for the press. The district administration has made VIP passes only. Got to see this for the first time. Apart from this, tents have been put up above the VIP block due to which the international stage is not visible to the people watching from outside. The number of chairs has also been reduced considerably for the general public to sit on the ridge ground. Because of this very few people were able to sit on the chairs.
