Shimla MC Election: Future of 102 candidates imprisoned in EVM, 58.66 percent turnout between rain and cold
Voting for the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections has concluded. Amidst rain and cold, 58.66 percent polling took place. The future of 102 candidates has been sealed in EVMs. This time there has been one percent more voting as compared to the last election.

Voting for the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections has concluded. Amidst rain and cold, 58.66 percent polling took place. The future of 102 candidates has been sealed in EVMs. This time there has been one percent more voting as compared to the last election.
Voting for the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections took place on Tuesday. People came out of their homes to cast their votes amid the bitter cold and rain throughout the day. The voting process, which started at 8 in the morning, went on till 4 in the evening. A total of 58.66 percent polling took place in 34 wards. The future of 102 candidates has been sealed in EVMs.
Workers of political parties were engaged in election preparations since morning. At 6 in the morning, the work of putting up posters and strings at a fixed distance from the polling stations was going on. At the same time, at 8 o’clock the candidates had also deployed their polling agents. Shimla city’s 93,920 voters will decide the political future of 102 candidates. Voting will be held till 4 pm. Apart from Congress and BJP, Aam Aadmi Party and CPI(M) have also fielded their candidates in some seats.
The process of elections to Municipal Corporation Shimla was completed peacefully. In some wards, all the voters who came till 4 pm cast their votes till 5.30 pm. Under the rules, the voters who queue up at the polling station at the fixed time, their votes can be cast later also.
149 polling stations were made for the election
For the election of 34 wards of Shimla Municipal Corporation, 149 polling stations were set up. 4 auxiliary polling stations were also set up for 4 wards, Lower Dhalli, Vikasnagar, Kangnadhar and New Shimla. For the General Election of Municipal Corporation Shimla, 153 polling teams have been appointed, in which about 1000 polling personnel and security personnel were included. Out of 149 polling stations, 10 polling stations were declared hypersensitive, 40 sensitive and 99 polling stations normal. The voting process was completed in a completely peaceful manner.
