Islamabad, Aug 20: At least seven members of a family died after consuming poisoned milk in Sindh, Pakistan, a local official said on Tuesday.

Five children were among those who consumed the poisoned milk on Sunday night, according to a statement by the region’s commissioner Fayyaz Abbasi.

The incident took place in Pir Goth area of ​​Khairpur district in the province, according to Xinhua news agency.

The official said 10 members of the family were rushed to the area’s civil hospital after their health deteriorated after consuming the milk late Sunday night.

“Seven people died during treatment while the rest are in critical condition,” a hospital official told Xinhua.

Local police said they have registered a case and are trying to find out how the poison was mixed in the milk.
