Sanjauli Mosque Dispute: Clash between police and protesters, two policemen injured
Shimla, September 11: In the mosque dispute case in Sanjauli, Shimla, protesters are breaking barricades and demonstrating in Sanjauli market. The disputed mosque is just 100-150 meters away from here. A large number of protesters broke the barricading done by the police in Dhali tunnel.
During this, there was a clash between the protesters and the police and the police had to lathicharge. Two policemen have been injured in the clash between the protesters and the police. These include a female and a male constable. The female policeman has suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to IGMC via ambulance. A male police personnel has been injured after being hit by a stone on the head.
Apart from this, some protesters are also reported to be injured. Seeing the situation deteriorating, state DGP Atul Verma also reached the spot and gave necessary instructions to the police force. Shimla DC Anupam Kashyap and SP Sanjeev Gandhi are also present on the spot. All the six battalions of the state are stationed in Sanjauli. The protesters have been camping in Sanjauli market for the past two hours. Water cannons are being used to disperse the protesters.
