Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will reach India on Wednesday on a four-day visit. Ahead of the visit, Prachanda has said he will take up the issue of long-term power trade with New Delhi, hoping that this “impasse” will be resolved. This is the first foreign visit of the 68-year-old CPN-Maoist leader after taking over as the Prime Minister of Nepal in December 2022.
Prachanda will visit India with a high-level delegation. During this, he will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders to strengthen the age-old ties between the two countries. According to official sources, Prachanda will also visit the famous Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain and an IT Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Indore.
PM Prachanda told Nepal’s national news agency (RSS) on Tuesday that an agreement with India in the field of energy is expected, which is in Nepal’s long-term interest. He said that we will take up some issues related to long term power trade with India during our visit. Prachanda said that this has been a demand of Nepal for years. The Nepali PM said, “We believe that if we are not able to find a suitable market for energy once production starts, then big investments will not come.” I think this bottleneck will be removed during my visit. We hope that Nepal will find a favorable market.
