Sundernagar, August 10: Monsoon is at its peak and rivers and streams are overflowing due to torrential rains. Cases of landslides are also coming to the fore at many places. Meanwhile, a case has come to light which will surprise you. Villagers are facing problems due to the absence of a bridge in the drain near Rann Ropa village of Pipli Gram Panchayat of Jogindernagar subdivision of Mandi district. People are forced to cross the bridge risking their lives but the leaders including the Panchayat representatives are not paying any attention to this.
The villagers say that the pedestrian bridge built in the drain was washed away in the rains last year. The flow of water in the drain was so strong that the years old bridge on the drain was completely wiped out. The situation has remained the same since then till today. Due to which the local villagers are troubled. These days it has become difficult to cross the drain in the rainy season. People are crossing the drain risking their lives by taking support from each other in the fast flow of the drain. People are appealing to the elected representatives and the local administration many times for the construction of a bridge over the drain, but the situation remains the same.
The villagers say that hundreds of people have been affected due to the washing away of this small bridge connecting Rann Ropa village and Banwar in the drain. Small school children are being taken to school with great difficulty every day through the fast flow of the drain. People coming and going through the overflowing drain is inviting a big accident.
On the other hand, when the Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Pipli Inder Singh Thakur was talked to through the phone, he said that the problem regarding the construction of a bridge over the drain is in his knowledge. For this, he has been repeatedly requesting the state government since last year, but till now no provision of funds has been made for it.
Panchayat Pradhan Inder Singh Thakur has requested Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to make provision of adequate funds for the construction of a bridge over the drain near Rann Ropa village, so that the problem of the people can be solved.
