The Kullu district administration has provided ration kits to 1,500 people in the flood-affected areas. 60 ration kits were delivered to the remote area of Shakti Marod through Air Force helicopter.
This area has been completely cut off from other areas due to heavy rains. The Deputy Commissioner said that even today ration will be supplied at many places through Air Force helicopters.
He said – It is a big challenge to get the road from Ropa to Manali fixed and it may take some time. So these areas are our priorities because not only are they cut off from the rest of the district, but the internal ones are interconnected. Their connectivity has also been affected and those bridges were also washed away in water.
Reports had come to us of many 10-11 families whose houses were also damaged. So, our team, our Patwari and the army, we also hope that if not today, they will also reach them by tomorrow.
And we have also given them satellite phones, apart from the immediate requirement of ration, we have dropped about 60 ration kits at both Shakti Marod and Shakti Marod through air force, in which the names of all the families are written. Families live in these three villages, so we hope that at least there will be no shortage of ration for the next one month.
We had this input that still connectivity is possible in Shakti Marod, from there it can be reached to Sugad. So air dropping was done at these two places where air dropping was possible. There are about five hundred and seventy kits which have been given through the Red Cross Society through some other private organizations and more than these there are around twelve thirteen hundred kits which have already been delivered to these families by the administration. Even now, where there is a need, more kits are being given to these families.
