Jalrakshaks’ protest against Sukhu government, clash with police…warning given to the government
Shimla, 6 September: Jalrakshaks have opened a front against the state government. On the ninth day of the monsoon session of the assembly, Jalrakshaks from all over the state gathered outside the assembly with their demands and raised slogans against the government. Police stopped the Jalrakshaks marching towards the assembly from Chaura Maidan by putting up barricades, where there was also a scuffle between the Jalrakshaks and the police.
Rooplal, President of Jalrakshaks Mahasangh, said that the government is not ready to listen to their demands. Those who get lakhs of rupees as salary are getting their salary on time, but no one is paying attention to those who get four-five thousand. He said that it is becoming difficult to run the house with a low salary. People who have completed 12 years of service should be regularized. A permanent policy should be made by reducing the contract period from 12 years to 8 years.
He said that when the salary of those earning lakhs of rupees was delayed by five days, the opposition also raised the issue strongly in the House, but even the opposition is not raising our voice. He said that the CM had talked about giving minimum wages, but it is not known when we will get it. Warning the government, he said that the government should not force us to take any strict action. If the government does not listen to us today, then we will sit on a hunger strike here.
