Himachal Budget: Compared to Uttarakhand and Kashmir, Promotion of Himachal tourism is Less, Air Service is the Biggest Hurdle
Gajendra Singh Thakur, President of Federation of All Himachal Hotel and Restaurants Association, says that there is a need for wide publicity regarding tourism of Himachal. There is less publicity in Himachal compared to other tourist states including Kashmir and Uttarakhand. The government should make special provisions for publicity in the budget. There is also a need to expand air services to increase tourism business in Himachal.
- Himachal Budget: Tourism Businessmen Hope For Tax Exemption And Encouragement To Air Services.
In the upcoming budget presented by the Himachal Pradesh government, tourism businessmen are expecting tax exemption and provision in the budget to encourage air services in the state. Tourism businessmen of Himachal Pradesh are facing losses due to more air services to Kashmir and Uttarakhand as compared to Himachal Pradesh. To save time, tourists are turning to Kashmir and Uttarakhand more than Himachal. For a long time, businessmen have been raising the demand for construction and expansion of airports for tourism development in Himachal.
The pace of tourism in Himachal Pradesh is going to increase by accelerating the construction work of heliport, construction of new heliport and starting of air services soon after obtaining permission from DGCA.
New activities should be developed to increase the stay of tourists in Himachal Pradesh.
Ice skating rinks which can operate for twelve months can be built in Himachal Pradesh. Water sports activities can also be started to attract tourists. Tourism businessmen want that new eco-tourism sites should be developed in the state so that tourists can spend their holidays peacefully, close to nature, away from the hustle and bustle of cities. Tourists can also be attracted by beautifying the tourist places of Himachal Pradesh.
Need for publicity and expansion of air services: Gajendra

Need for tourist police, tourism policy, construction of public toilets: Naveen
Naveen Paul, President of Himachal Pradesh Travel Agents Association, says that the facility of Tourist Police should be started to help the tourists coming from outside states. state government should make tourism policy after taking the opinion of people associated with tourism business. Tourist helpline should be started on the lines of CM helpline. Public toilet facilities should be made available for tourists on Shimla-Manali, Chandigarh-Manali, Shimla-Kufri-Narkanda Highway.
Need to build ropeway and ice skating rinks : Vikrant
Vikrant Shyam, a young tourism businessman from Shimla’s world famous tourist destination Narkanda, says that for tourism development, Himachal government should notify new skiing and adventure sites. Help desk facility should be made available to guide the tourists. Tourists coming to Himachal face the problem of parking. Parking lots should be developed at tourist places. There is a need to build new rope-ways and ice skating rinks.
