Dharamshala, 03 October: The daughter who used to beg on the streets with her mother has now returned home as a doctor. This story sounds like the script of a movie. But Pinky Haryan, a daughter of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, has done this in real life. The hands that were once raised to beg are now in control of the lives of millions of patients. The daughter who was begging at the age of going to school, now writes and speaks such fluent English that everyone is surprised.

Pinky’s life-changing journey started when she was just four and a half years old. At that time, Pinky used to beg on the streets of McLeod-Ganj with her mother. In this difficult situation, the Tibetan institution Tong-Len extended a helping hand to Pinky and gave her a place to stay in their hostel. From here a new turn came in Pinky’s life and she proved herself in studies. In 2018, the institution got Pinky admitted to a reputed medical college in China, from where she completed MBBS after six years of hard work. Now Pinky has completed her degree and become a doctor. On Thursday, Pinky spoke to the media in Dharamshala after returning from abroad after completing her MBBS degree. Here Pinky shared the ups and downs of her life journey.

Pinky told that Tibetan refugee monk Jamyang played an important role in her journey. Jamyang is the founder of Tong-Len Charitable Trust. He played an important role in completely changing Pinky’s life. However, Pinky’s path was not always easy. She had passed the NEET exam, but it was not possible for the family to bear the burden of the hefty fees of a private college. In this difficult time, monk Jamyang and other donors helped her, which made Pinky’s dream come true.

Pinky said while talking to the media that the biggest change in her life came in 2005, when she understood the importance of education. She expressed her gratitude to her parents and all those who helped her. Today Pinky’s family is also in a better position and her younger siblings are also studying in Tong-Len School, which is equipped with modern facilities. The school was inaugurated by the Dalai Lama in 2011.

Pinky told that she had never even thought about how to become a doctor. But her institution and the people there were always there to help her. Pinky Haryan’s success is a matter of pride not only for Dharamshala, but for the whole of Himachal Pradesh.
