Heavy rains in Pakistan on Saturday killed 28 people and injured over 140. Due to the rain, many houses were destroyed, trees were uprooted and electric poles fell. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and directed the authorities to speed up relief and rescue operations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and directed the authorities to speed up relief and rescue operations.
Officials said 25 people died in several districts due to heavy rains accompanied by thunder and hail. In a village in Khusab district of Punjab, three girls were killed when the wall of their house collapsed. The relief officer said that immediate relief is being provided to the injured.
Last year too, floods following the monsoon rains in Pakistan had caused massive devastation and claimed more than 1700 lives and affected more than three crore people. Lakhs of people also had to be displaced.
