Shimla, August 25: Taking an important step towards empowerment of rural areas, the Himachal Pradesh government has made a transformative beginning by issuing property cards under the Svamitva Yojana. This ambitious scheme is providing land ownership rights with legal recognition to people living in Abadi Deh areas (populated areas) for a long time. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that this scheme will change the rural landscape of the state, which will increase the opportunities for economic progress for thousands of families.
In the first phase of this scheme, launched under the leadership of the Revenue Department, property cards will be provided to more than 4,230 families of 190 villages. Marking has been done with drones to implement this scheme on the ground. Under the campaign, drone marking work has been completed in 13,599 Abadi Deh villages out of 15,196 villages of the state.
The Survey of India has played an important role in this process. A total of 16,588 maps of first level and 1482 maps of 774 villages of second level have been received from the Indian Survey Department of 6314 villages including district Hamirpur. Along with this, final level maps of 355 abadi deh villages have been received in district Hamirpur, in which the process of issuing property cards is going on.
Hamirpur has become the first district in the country where land ownership rights are being given to families in abadi deh. Many of the problems of families living in Lal Dora will be solved by getting land rights. The state government has been doing many works for the convenience of the people from the very first day. Property cards are not only legal documents but also a solution to the long-standing difficulties and issues faced by the residents of Lal-Dora/Lal-Lakir areas. Property cards will simplify people’s access to official land records, which will also reduce the need to visit revenue offices frequently.
This scheme will streamline land related processes and enhance public facilities. By providing clear and legally recognized ownership, this scheme will provide landholders with opportunities to take loans and invest in land. This will not only boost individual economic prospects but will also lead to overall development of the state.
This initiative of the state government reflects the commitment to improve the lives of citizens through progressive policies. The Svamitva Yojana, launched by taking into account the complexities of land ownership and management, is laying the foundation for a more efficient, transparent and land administration system in the state. This scheme will benefit generations to come and will establish progressive dimensions for the rural population of the state.
