G20 : Jaishankar chairs PCC meeting on India’s G20 chairmanship, Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor also attend
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday chaired a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee (PCC) on External Affairs on India’s G20 chairmanship. The development of Indo-US relations was discussed in the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor, among others. Jaishankar posted on Twitter a group photo of the people who attended the meeting. “Chairs the Parliamentary Consultative Committee on External Affairs on India’s G20 Chairmanship. Thanks to the members for their active participation,” he tweeted.
In a tweet, Tharoor said the meeting was somewhat marred by “unnecessary politicization” of the discussion by some members and that Gandhi “replied strongly” to them. Tharoor said, “A good meeting of the Consultative Committee on Foreign Affairs today on India’s foreign policy objectives at the G-20 was disrupted by some members unnecessarily politicizing the discussion. @RahulGandhi gave him a firm reply and It ended with a cordial group photograph.”
Jaishankar tweeted, the Parliamentary Consultative Committee on Foreign Affairs today considered recent developments in India-US relations. Jaishankar said the discussions took place in a positive atmosphere with an aim to see how the country can benefit from these ties. The External Affairs Minister said that during the meeting the members of the committee also appreciated the historic state visit of the Prime Minister. An engaging discussion took place in a positive atmosphere on the benefits of these ties to the nation.
