G20: India can provide the most skilled workforce to the world

The Prime Minister said the amazing work done by frontline health and other workers in India during Covid showed their skill and dedication. It also reflects our culture of service and passion. Indeed India has the potential to become one of the largest providers of skilled workforce in the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed the meeting of G-20 Labor and Employment Ministers held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh through video conferencing. The Prime Minister described India as capable of providing skilled manpower to the entire world. He said, a globally mobile workforce is a reality of the future. Globalization of skill development and shared access to skilled labor is the need of the hour. India has the potential to become one of the largest providers of skilled workforce to the world.

To the labor and employment ministers of the G-20 countries, he told, your group is discussing the most important economic and social factor – employment. The G-20 will have to play a leading role in this area as the world is on the threshold of one of the biggest changes in the employment sector. The G-20 needs to develop responsive and effective strategies to deal with these changes.

12.5 crore youth have been trained

Describing technology as a driver of employment, the PM said, it is fortunate that the meeting is being held in India, which has the experience of creating a large number of jobs through technology-led changes. We need to skill the workforce in the use of advanced technologies and processes. For this, skilling, re-skilling and up-skilling are the key mantras. The Prime Minister said, Skill India Mission is a campaign to connect with this reality. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, more than 12.5 crore youth have been trained so far.
