G-20: G-7 business group supports India’s G-20 theme says one earth one family essential for sustainable development – Business executives from the G-7 group of world’s richest countries have supported India’s G-20 theme ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’. The group’s business executives have said that it is necessary to achieve sustainable development that is compatible with global environmental protection.The G-7 is a group of countries with the world’s seven largest and advanced economies, including Japan, Italy, Canada, France, the US, the UK, Germany and the European Union. It also held a foreign ministers’ summit in Tokyo on April 19-20 ahead of the G-7 summit meeting in Japan later this month.
The theme of G-20 has been taken from Maha Upanishad
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ is derived from the ancient Sanskrit text of the Maha Upanishad. After India got the chairmanship, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared it the subject of G-20. Based on the ancient culture of India, this theme affirms the interconnectedness of all life – human, animal, plant and micro-organism – on planet Earth and in the wider universe.
India assumed the presidency of the G-20 for one year from December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2023. The G-20 summit will be held in Delhi on 9-10 September this year.
India urges G-20 countries to focus on evidence-based research
Ahead of the India-US annual Biopharma and Healthcare Summit, top Indian official Amitabh Kant urged G-20 countries to cooperate and focus on evidence-based research. I urge G-20 member countries to build evidence-based research to ensure preparedness in health systems and build resilient global supply chains, India’s G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant said at the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce and collaborate on analysis.
