Shimla, August 05: Most parts of Himachal Pradesh are cloudy on Monday. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert today, Monday, expressing the possibility of flash floods in Shimla and Sirmaur districts. Local people and tourists coming from outside have been advised to take precautions. People have been appealed not to travel to landslide prone areas. Also, instructions have been given to maintain distance from rivers and streams. Meteorological Center Shimla has warned of heavy rains in the plains and mid-mountain areas of the state till August 10.

50 incidents of flash floods, landslides and cloudbursts in monsoon season-

The south-west monsoon has wreaked havoc in the state this time too. There has been heavy loss of life and property due to floods and landslides in many parts of the state. According to the State Emergency Operations Center, in the last 38 days of the monsoon season, 50 incidents of flash floods, landslides and cloudbursts have been reported in the state. During this period, cloudbursts and flash floods wreaked havoc at 32 places in the state, while landslides caused devastation at 18 places. In these, 12 people lost their lives and 44 went missing. Four people are injured.

According to the State Emergency Operations Center, 119 houses were damaged in different incidents of cloudburst and flash floods, out of which 81 houses were completely destroyed, while 38 houses were partially damaged. Landslide demolished one house. 14 shops were also washed away due to cloudburst and flash floods. Due to this, 24 cattle sheds were also destroyed and 56 cattle also died.

Search for missing people continues in Shimla, Mandi and Kullu districts-

There has been massive destruction due to cloudburst on the night of 31st July in Shimla, Mandi and Kullu districts. 12 people have died in all three districts and about 40 people are missing. Samej village of Rampur subdivision of Shimla district was completely destroyed due to cloudburst. About three dozen people are missing in the accident.

Two bodies found on the banks of Satluj river in Rampur-

While searching for missing people after cloudburst in Samej of Rampur area of ​​Shimla district, rescue teams have recovered the bodies of two men on the banks of Satluj river late on Sunday evening. Both the bodies were found in Dakoldh near Nogli, 14 km from the incident spot. The bodies have been kept in the mortuary of Khaneri Hospital of Rampur. Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that both the bodies are in a mutilated condition and could not be identified.

He said that Kullu administration has also been informed about this, because some people were also missing in the cloudburst incident in Nirmand of Kullu. Anupam Kashyap said that a fast paced search operation is going on in the flood affected areas and eight LNT machines are being used for this. Rescue teams have been searching for the missing people for the last five days. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced a relief amount of Rs 50,000 and Rs 5,000 for renting a house to the affected families.
