The first meeting of the committee formed on the issue of one nation-one election is being held in New Delhi today.
The central government had issued the notification of the eight-sadyasyo committee in the chairmanship of former President Ramnath Kovind on September 2.
This committee has been appointed by the Lok Sabha and the state.
The responsibility has been given to consider the issue of holding simultaneous elections to the Legislative Assemblies.
The committee will give its recommendations keeping in mind the existing system of the Indian Constitution and the statutory provisions.
The committee will also consider whether the states can amend the Constitution today. Will approval be required ?
The committee will hold discussions with all concerned and conduct in-depth research on the issue and prepare relevant documents.
The objective of the One Nation One Election concept in India is to hold Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections simultaneously.
These elections will be held on a single day or It is proposed to be carried out over a period of time.
