Kangra, September 13:Â A serious case of land registration fraud using fake agriculture certificate has come to light in Bhavarna of Palampur subdivision of Kangra district. The fraud involves registration of land in the name of a non-Himachali person, following which SDM Palampur Netra Maiti has ordered a probe.
The dispute pertains to a land transaction in which a non-Himachali person living in Bhavarna for many years acquired land using a fake agriculture certificate. The certificate, which was supposed to certify the eligibility of the land buyer, was wrongly issued in the name of Anwar Mohammad, a local resident of Chowki Khaleth. Anwar Mohammad, who has only two daughters and no son, was wrongly listed as the father of the land buyer, which shows that the certificate was completely fake.
Anwar Mohammad came to know about the misuse of his name and the fake certificate only two days ago. He expressed shock and dismay that such a certificate could be used to facilitate a land deal, highlighting the seriousness of the administrative lapses involved.
SDM Netra Maiti immediately began investigating the matter upon learning about the fake certificate. SDM Maity said that if the investigation finds any evidence of fraud, the matter will be referred to the Kangra Deputy Commissioner for further action. The move is aimed at eliminating procedural lapses and ensuring accountability within the local administration.
Bhavarna Naib Tehsildar Sanjeev Kumar has raised concerns about the registration process. Kumar questioned how the patwari responsible for issuing the certificate failed to verify its authenticity and why no revenue official checked the document before using it in the land transaction.
The incident has brought to light critical issues with land registration processes in Bhavarna. The use of fake certificates not only undermines the integrity of land transactions but also raises serious questions about the effectiveness of administrative checks and balances within the revenue department.
As the investigation progresses, the administration will need to address these procedural loopholes and implement robust verification processes to prevent future incidents of fraud. This case is an important reminder of the need for rigorous monitoring in land registration and administrative processes to ensure transparency and integrity in public dealings.
