Efforts have been intensified to maintain cleanliness in Mandi city. Self-help groups including voluntary organizations are now taking over the responsibility in the city.
In a meeting held in Mandi, the Municipal Corporation discussed with the representatives of these organizations. Municipal Commissioner S Rana told that these organizations will also monitor the people who throw garbage here and there in the city.
Apart from this, the people of the city will also be made aware by going door to door about keeping the dry waste separately. Everyone wants that in this area they should join hands with the Mandi Municipal Corporation to do development work and also self-help groups. Through this we have further decided to do this program.
He said — I will go to different group wards and hold meetings and tell them how to talk to the people. So this process will go on continuously until we achieve our target.
We want that the garbage of the whole city should be segregated and all the people should separate the garbage from every house and give it to our workers, so that we do not have any problem in further dumping or disposing it.
He informed that a team of the Central Government is going to visit Mandi city soon regarding the cleanliness survey. He said that this time, by promoting cleanliness, Mandi will be recognized at the national level in the cleanliness system.
