Dharamshala, August 18: The work of the under construction Finna Singh irrigation project in Kangra district will now move forward at a fast pace. So far, the state government has spent Rs. 300 crore for its construction. The central government has also approved Rs. 287 crore for this project to be built at a cost of about Rs. 646 crore. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, who arrived on a one-day visit to Fatehpur assembly constituency, expressed these sentiments while talking to journalists here. He said that the construction work of this project was pending for a decade. After the formation of the Congress government in the state, this matter was continuously raised before the Center. After continuous efforts and hard work, now the budget has also been approved from the Center.

According to Mukesh Agnihotri, along with irrigation, construction of power project is also proposed from this project pending for almost a decade. This project will prove to be a boon for the area. On one hand, this will enable farmers to cultivate on five thousand hectares of land, while on the other hand, electricity will also be generated from the dam being built on it. He said that the construction of the dam and canals being built for irrigation distribution under the project is almost complete. Apart from this, the department will produce 1.88 MW of electricity without any additional cost from the power house being constructed under the project.

Shahnahar will be reconstructed with 10 crores

The Deputy Chief Minister also inspected the damaged part of the Shahnahar irrigation project under Fatehpur assembly constituency. He said that the Shahnahar project, built at a cost of Rs 387.22 crore, provides irrigation facility to 15 thousand 287 hectares of land in Kangra district. This project is one of the main irrigation projects of the state. He said that some part of Shahnahar was damaged due to heavy rains and mining last year. Due to which farmers in the area are facing major problems for irrigation and farming.

He said that about ten crore rupees will be spent for the reconstruction of the damaged part of Shahnahar. The Deputy Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs 10 crore for this and directed the departmental officers to start the work as soon as possible. He said that apart from this, Siddhatha and Sukhahar irrigation schemes are also very important projects of Kangra district. He said that efforts have been intensified for the approval of Sukhahar irrigation scheme costing Rs 247 crore. This will benefit 22 villages of Shahpur and Jwali in Kangra district. Also, a total of 3150 hectares of land of 45 villages will get irrigation facility from Siddhatha canal. This project to be built at a cost of 95 crores will also prove to be a boon for Kangra district.

Mukesh Agnihotri said that the project of embankment of the downstream area of ​​Pong dam has also been sent to the Center. He said that efforts will be made to get this project approved from the Center on priority to protect the areas situated on the banks of Beas from the danger of floods. The Deputy Chief Minister said that with the efforts of Bhawani Singh Pathania, MLA of Fatehpur assembly constituency, a parallel bridge will be built on the Pong dam at a cost of 105 crores. He said that the government has approved it. With the construction of this bridge, people and vehicles of the area will be able to cross the Pong Dam without any hindrance at all times.

Inauguration of projects worth Rs 4 crore 24 lakh

During his Fatehpur visit, the Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated various projects of the Water Power Department constructed at a cost of about Rs 4 crore 24 lakh and dedicated them to the people of the area. He inaugurated the Lift Drinking Water Scheme Thathar, Baldiyan, Dhaneti, Dehriyan constructed at a cost of about Rs 1 crore 8 lakh and the augmentation work of Lift Drinking Water Scheme Rehan Dehri constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore 66 lakh. A population of 4 thousand 425 living in 25 settlements of about 7 villages will be benefited by these drinking water projects. After this, Mukesh Agnihotri also inaugurated the renovation work of Jal Bhawan Rehan, done at a cost of Rs 1 crore 50 lakh and handed it over to the area.

Mukesh Agnihotri inspected the site of the proposed bus stand in Fatehpur assembly constituency and directed the officials to start its construction work as soon as possible. He said that serious efforts are being made by the government to provide better transport facilities in the state. In this series, the government is committed to build a good bus stand in Fatehpur as well. Apart from this, he announced to give Rs 25 lakh for the pond to be built in Raja Ka Talab. He said that the government is determined to provide all possible assistance and funds for water conservation and construction of ponds.
