Solan, September 29: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Amardeep Panja has won a landslide victory in the by-election of ward number 5 of Solan Municipal Corporation of Himachal Pradesh. Amardeep Panja got 524 votes, while Congress candidate Puneet Narang got 240 votes. That is, the contest was one-sided. 2 votes were also cast for NOTA in the election.
The interesting thing was that there was no independent candidate in the election, so there was a direct contest between Puneet Narang of Congress and Amardeep of BJP. Let us tell you that the first elections in Solan Municipal Corporation were held in April 2021, when it was upgraded from Municipal Council. The seat fell vacant after the death of BJP councilor and social worker Kulbhushan Gupta in March. The councilor was elected for the remaining 16 months of the Municipal Corporation term.
On the other hand, BJP leader of opposition Jairam Thakur, state president Dr Rajiv Bindal, MP Suresh Kashyap, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, state organization general secretary Siddharthan, general secretary Bihari Lal Sharma, Trilok Kapoor, Sikandar Kumar and senior leaders and workers congratulated the BJP candidate on his victory.
BJP state president Dr Rajiv Bindal thanked the people of Solan and the voters of ward number 5 for this magnificent victory. Bindal said that this magnificent victory of BJP is a fatwa against the current Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government. He said that the Health Minister of Himachal government was constantly going door to door in this ward, despite this the government had to face defeat. BJP got more than twice the votes than Congress, this is a direct vote of the public against the current government.
