The Lahaul Potato Producers Cooperative Development and Legislation Committee, which has a turnover of about one hundred crore rupees every year, has now decided to start the business of vegetables as well.

Asia’s well-known co-operative society associated with the business of seed potatoes, Lahaul Potato Producer Cooperative Society will now try its hand in the business of off-season vegetables as well.
The Lahaul Potato Producers Cooperative Development and Legislation Committee, which has a turnover of about one hundred crore rupees every year, has now decided to start the business of vegetables as well.
This decision was taken in the 97th annual session of the committee held at Karga, Lahaul Spiti Commissioner Rahul Kumar said on the occasion that the government and the administration will provide all possible cooperation to LPS, which is famous for seed potatoes, in the business of off-season vegetables.
President of the organization Sudarshan Jaspa said on the occasion that the farmers of Lahaul, associated with the vegetable business, are cheated every year by the agents.
He says that the vegetables and other cash crops of the farmers of Lahaul pass through four to five middlemen before reaching the mandis and these middlemen exploit the farmers.
By removing all such middlemen, LPS will act as a link between the farmer and the Person.
In our fifty-seventh annual session, we put our annual report of the last year in front of the members and also took guidance for the work to be done by NPS within the coming one year and within the coming time.
We have also prepared a blueprint for the work to be done by NPS. We all know that potato cultivation today is not the way it used to be earlier and due to crop variation, people who have exhausted choleflower and other vegetables, are doing their work in a good way and in large quantities.
So L PS had put forth this proposal here today that why don’t we also keep pace with the times and start the business of Cauliflower this time and for the coming time by creating facilities like processing unit and coldstorage chain, we will do better marketing of the products of the farmers, one of the benefits will be that the middlemen who sit and eat commission will be removed from the beach of the farmer and trader and the profit that will be saved in the mid will directly reach the farmers. That’s is also a real purpose of this society.
Sudarshan Jaspa said that LPS will set up a temporary vegetable market with cold chain system and processing unit and marketing the products after grading and packing.It is noteworthy that Lahaul potato society.
LPS exports the country’s best quality seed potatoes across the country.But due to the trend of farmers in Lahaul valley towards off-season vegetables, NPS has also decided to enter vegetable business.
