Under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh Government’s sustained focus on road safety has delivered significant and measurable results, with a sharp decline in the number of road accidents across the state—saving countless precious lives.

According to official data, 2,253 road accidents were recorded in 2023, which fell to 2,147 in 2024. In 2025, only 1,457 accidents have been reported so far, marking a substantial drop and highlighting the government’s effective interventions, improved enforcement, and widespread public awareness campaigns.

A government spokesperson noted that this achievement is particularly remarkable given the state’s exposure to natural disasters such as landslides, floods, and cloudbursts in both 2023 and 2025. Despite these challenges, the government maintained its commitment to road safety through coordinated efforts among departments, strict monitoring, and enhanced safety measures.

The spokesperson emphasized that road safety remains one of the top priorities of the present administration. Chief Minister Sukhu has directed officials to take every possible measure to prevent road mishaps, stating that the government’s mission goes beyond reducing accident statistics — it is about protecting every citizen’s life and ensuring safe travel across the hill state.
