Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday clarified that he has not suggested any name to party in-charge Rajni Patil for the post of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president.

Speaking to reporters after meeting Patil, Sukhu said that the decision to appoint the state party chief rests solely with the Congress high command. “I can only discuss future programs and issues to be taken up in the Assembly and among the public,” he said.

“For me, everyone is equal. The entire party believes in Congress ideology, and we will fully support any appointment made by the high command,” he added.

Referring to the recent debate on disaster relief in the Assembly, Sukhu accused the BJP of double standards. “They demanded a discussion under Rule 67, which we agreed to. We debated the issue for four days, but when it came time for a reply, BJP members walked out,” he said.

Sukhu further claimed that the state has not yet received any financial assistance from the Centre. “We are providing relief from our own resources—₹7 lakh for house construction, ₹70,000 for household goods, and ₹50,000 for livestock loss. This is far higher than what other states are offering,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister also said he would meet the Union Home Secretary in Shimla to press for an adequate special relief package for Himachal, which has suffered massive damage due to relentless rains, cloudbursts, and flash floods.
