Truck Falls Into Beas River on Chandigarh–Manali NH

Mandi, August 20 — A tragic road accident occurred on the Chandigarh–Manali National Highway near Jogni Mor around 3 a.m. on Wednesday. A truck loaded with apples went out of control and plunged nearly 100 meters off the highway into the Beas River. After the accident, only a small portion of the vehicle was visible above water, while most of it had submerged.

It is still unclear how many people were inside the truck or its exact registration details. On receiving the information, police and SDRF teams rushed to the spot. Reaching the accident site proved extremely difficult, as there is no direct approach to the riverbank. Despite the challenges, SDRF personnel managed to reach the location after strenuous efforts. Authorities suspect that much of the vehicle may have been swept away by the strong current of the Beas.

Anil Katoch, in charge of the Pandoh police post, confirmed the incident, stating that the accident took place around 3 a.m. “Due to heavy rain, traffic had been halted at the time. Once the rain subsided in the morning, rescue teams reached the site,” he said. A case has been registered, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
