Shimla, July 31

Shimla Police has issued a clarification regarding misleading information circulating on social media about an incident involving an elderly man who fell in the city’s Lower Bazaar area on Tuesday evening.

Some social media posts alleged that the man was not given timely assistance and accused the police of negligence. However, Shimla Police stated that these claims are entirely false and misleading. According to their statement, the man was taken to the hospital within just 15 minutes of the incident.

As per the police, the incident occurred at 3:05 PM. By 3:10 PM, a senior police official had been informed, and at 3:11 PM, a police team was dispatched to the spot. An ambulance was also called at the same time. Since vehicles cannot directly access the location, police personnel reached the scene on foot.

Both the police and ambulance arrived at the spot by 3:17 PM, and the elderly man was admitted to the hospital by 3:25 PM. The police emphasized that their team reached the scene and began providing assistance within just 7 minutes—a swift response by emergency standards.

The statement also clarified that the incident took place in the Lower Bazaar area, not on Mall Road, as some social media posts have claimed. The elderly individual received prompt medical attention and was transported to the hospital within 15 minutes, contrary to the misinformation being spread online.
