Solan, June 26: In a significant breakthrough, Solan police have arrested three individuals—including a woman—for impersonating a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and a police security officer (PSO). The suspects were apprehended in a Scorpio SUV bearing a fake Haryana registration number, fitted with a siren and flashing lights. Police also recovered a pistol and two live cartridges from the vehicle.
The incident unfolded after traffic police received a tip-off about a blue Scorpio speeding from Parwanoo towards Solan, with its lights flashing and siren blaring, resembling a VIP convoy. When police attempted to intercept the vehicle, the driver tried to evade them. However, the vehicle was successfully stopped near Dohri Deewar.
On inspection, one of the men was found dressed in a fake Haryana Police uniform, claiming to be the PSO of an MLA, and described the vehicle as belonging to a legislator. But further verification revealed that both the uniform and identity were fake. Moreover, the weapon license was only valid for the state of Haryana. Shockingly, the registration number on the Scorpio was actually registered to a Toyota Innova Crysta, confirming that the number plate was also fraudulent.
All three suspects were immediately taken into custody, and the vehicle, weapon, and uniforms seized. Authorities are now investigating the motive behind the impersonation, with particular focus on whether the accused were planning any serious criminal activity in Himachal Pradesh.
The arrests have raised security concerns, and police are working to trace the network and background of the individuals involved.
