Hamirpur, May 17: While most people look forward to receiving gifts on their birthdays, Shivansh Sharma, a bright student from Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, gave himself a present that he and his family will cherish for a lifetime — a place in the state merit list of the Class 12 board examinations.
A student of PM Shri Government Model Senior Secondary School, Bhareri (Hamirpur), Shivansh scored 475 marks in the Science stream in the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) exams, earning the 10th rank across the state.
What makes his achievement even more special is the timing — the result was declared on May 17, just a day before his birthday on May 18, 2008. His top-10 ranking stands as a symbol of his hard work and dedication — a truly memorable self-gift.
Shivansh’s subject-wise scores reflect his academic strength: English – 79, Physics – 97, Chemistry – 100, Mathematics – 100, and 99 in Automobiles (Vocational subject). His performance underscores a powerful message — that students from government schools, too, can achieve state-level distinction with determination and discipline.
His proud parents, Som Dutt and Kashmira Devi, expressed joy at their son’s success, saying he has brought pride not just to the family, but also to the entire school and district. Teachers and school administrators also lauded Shivansh’s effort and extended their best wishes for his future.
Shivansh’s journey stands as an inspiration for all students who dare to dream big — even with limited resources — and are willing to work tirelessly to turn those dreams into reality.
