Shimla, May 3: The picturesque Dharech Valley in Shimla district is set to come alive with the sounds of rhythm and melody as ‘The Gurukul’ hosts a grand Tabla Summer Camp from June 11 to 15. The event will bring together accomplished tabla artists from across India and abroad, creating a vibrant musical atmosphere in the hills.

Renowned tabla virtuoso and gold medalist Vikram Gandharv will serve as the resource person for the camp. Over five days, the serene landscape of Dharech will be immersed in the intricate beats of tabla and the essence of classical music.

In a conversation with the media, Vikram Gandharv shared that this will be the fifth such music camp organized at The Gurukul. Previous summer and winter tabla camps held here have already attracted participants from various countries, helping to build a strong community of rhythm enthusiasts.

Founded by Vikram Gandharv in 2021, The Gurukul is not just a music learning center—it is a revival of the ancient Indian Gurukul tradition, where the bond between teacher and student is honored with reverence and dedication.

A native of Dharech in the Kasumpti constituency, Vikram holds an M.Phil. in music and is preparing to pursue his Ph.D. Music runs in his blood—his father, Het Ram Gandharv (a retired Sub-Inspector from the police department), and other family members are all trained in classical music, preserving this heritage even in changing times.

Vikram Gandharv has invited all tabla enthusiasts interested in participating in the camp to contact him at 780707924. Participants will also receive official certificates upon completion of the camp.
